LEGO Dimensions “Build Your Gateway” Contest Encourages You To ‘Break The Rules’ Using Your Imagination
We once featured some of the coolest customized LEGO Dimensions portals that we have ever seen across the LEGO Dimensions community and we thought that they deserved to have a wider audience. Thankfully, you also considered them worthy of smashing that share button so more and more people will appreciate these original Dimensions MOCs.
As it seems, LEGO caught on to the idea and has now opened a new contest for those who have a knack of spicing up their LEGO Dimensions Toy Pad. LEGO’s “Build Your Gateway” contest encourages fans to explore the many different ways a LEGO Dimensions Toy Pad can be built. Here’s an overview of the contest.
The LEGO Dimensions Toy Pad is the gateway to a palette of exciting worlds where your physical LEGO Dimensions builds come to life in the game. Different worlds are mashed up and the Toy Pad is the portal through which it all begins. We want to see how you are breaking the rules with your imagination. You do not even need to own a LEGO Dimensions Toy Pad to enter!
In true LEGO Dimensions spirit, we want you to think outside the box and show us how you are breaking the rules with your imagination. Build your Toy Pad to make it your own and the coolest possible entry point for LEGO Dimensions. You could win a selection of LEGO Dimensions prizes, with something extra special for Doctor Who fans!
Will you make super dramatic decorations on your Toy Pad, or will you perhaps build extra cool functions onto it? Show us, and you can join the contest even if you do not own the LEGO Dimensions Toy Pad.
Using your own LEGO Dimensions Toy Pad, you are encouraged to come up with your very own rendition of the LEGO Dimensions Portal, snap several photos, come up with a catchy title and interesting description, and upload it online via LEGO’s Rebrick, “Build Your Gateway” webpage. The cool thing about the “Build Your Gateway” contest is that it doesn’t even require you to have a LEGO Dimensions Toy Pad. You can come with your own MOC with whatever LEGO pieces that you have, or even work with virtual pieces using LEGO’s Digital Designer. Click here for more details on the contest’s rules.
Be sure that you have a LEGO ID before submitting your entry. Click here if you don’t have one yet.
So how will the winner be selected? A panel of judges from the LEGO Dimensions team, including representatives from LEGO Systems, Inc., WB Games, and TT Games will select one grand prize winner based on the following criteria:
- Overall expression and innovation of mashup using LD brands: 25%
- Most inspired details on the model: 25%
- Attention to contest theme: 25%
- Best use of LEGO elements: 25%
The Grand Prize Winner will receive the following exclusive gifts:
- A LEGO Dimensions starter pack available on the following platforms: PS4, PS3, Wii U, XBox One and the X360. Retail value $79.99 – $89.99
- One (1) Level Pack to be chosen by winner retailed at $29.99, and…
- An exclusive, one-of-a-kind brick-built LEGO Doctor Who figure approximately 20 inches tall with an estimated value of $2,000
Though I wished LEGO could have thrown in a gaming console to go along with the LEGO Dimensions Starter Pack, having the brick-built LEGO Doctor Who is enough of a trophy in itself. If you’re interested to join, better start early because the deadline for submission of entries is only until May 16, 2016 16:00 CET.
